Dr. Val was born and raised in Lakewood, PA on a small farm where she raised sheep, chickens, pigs and turkeys. The family also had horses and ponies. This is where she developed her desire to care for animals. Through high school she was involved in 4H showing market lambs and horses. After high school she attended The University of Scranton and earned her bachelors in Biology and masters in Biochemistry. Dr. Val worked at a small animal emergency and surgery center for about two years before attending veterinary school at St. Matthew’s University in Grand Cayman, and completing her clinical year at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Val has been working in Afton, NY since 2009.

When not working, Dr. Val enjoys training and showing/jumping horses. She also enjoys the out doors and SCUBA diving.
