Your cat will bring you laughter, joy and companionship throughout their life. We often make our medical and health decisions based on the life stages of your pet.
Cat Life Stages:
- Kitten: Kittens are born blind and helpless. They will start to open their eyes and explore their surroundings around 7-10 days of age. Kittens are playful and need plenty of exercise and stimulation. They should be fed a diet that is high in protein and calories to support their growth.
- Junior: Kittens enter the junior stage around 4-6 months of age. This is a time of rapid growth and development, both physically and mentally. Kittens may become more independent and may start to test their boundaries. It is important to continue to train and socialize kittens during this time.
- Adult: Cats reach adulthood around 1-2 years of age. This is the time when they will reach their full size and weight. Adult cats are typically more settled and less energetic than kittens. They should be fed a diet that is lower in calories and higher in nutrients to maintain their health.
- Senior: Cats enter seniorhood around 10-12 years of age. This is a time when they will start to slow down and may experience some health problems. Senior cats should be fed a diet that is low in calories and high in nutrients to support their health. They should also be taken to the veterinarian for regular checkups.
It is important to be aware of the different life stages of cats so that you can provide them with the best possible care.
